Gods and Goddesses Resources for Activity Tuesday 6 March

Today we will be doing an activity on Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses in class:

  • Students will be assigned a group
  • Each group will research his assigned God or Goddess
  • Fill in the blanks on each sheet 
  • Research questions suggested 
  • Write any additional information they found during their research
  • Students may use their phone and my internet in class

The social study quiz which was supposed to take place tomorrow will be reported to next Wednesday and will be covering both the Nile valley during Ancient Egypt and Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses.

Homework (Sunday for California and Monday for New York)

Many did not finish the classwork worksheets on the Nile River given in class yesterday.
Students are to complete them. They can use the book and research on the internet.

Weekly plan and quiz

Homework: Sunday (California) Monday (New York)


Presentation (either on a flash memory or a collage on a board) on the Nile River durring Ancient Egyptian times! The homework below will help for this presentation and any research from the internet can be included as long as it is not a copy paste.

Please make sure students finish completing the 4 questions from the book on the Nile Valley:
1) What are the major features of the Nile River?
2) How did ancient Egyptians control the flooding waters of the Nile?
3) How did the unpredictability of the Nile's floods affect early Egyptians' religious beleifs?
4) How did trade along the Nile support the growth of Egypt?

Please make sure all the vocabulary of the capter is understood including the 5 words in the book:
- Delta
- Cataract
- Arid
- Predict
- Afterlife

Students have watch this video in class and were supposed to take note. Please make sure the notes are complete and they watch the video again at home:

Homework, Weekly plan, and Quiz


Homework for Sunday (California) and Monday (New York):

How did Sargon maintain control over his empire?
How did Hammurabi organize the laws of Babylon?

Read the Chapter again p120 - 125 and write a small paragraph for each question. 
(Internet research with pictures and oral explanation will be a bonus. No copy paste will be allowed.)

We have studied in class how the song relates to what the Social Studies Book has written on Mesopotamia. Please make sure the students listen to the song.



Next week we will be covering the geography of Mesopotamia.

Quizz will be on Monday 19th on Sumerian Inventions, Sargon, Hammurabi, and Geography of Mesopotamia. 

Please note that during the Parent-Teacher meeting I have told the parents that we will be working from the book and from external videos, And that there will be a combination of quizzes and presentations to make the Social Studies grade.

Also, note that there have been changes in the schedules of Grade 5 please make sure students come ready with the appropriate copybooks every day. Thank you for your understanding.

Homework

Please make sure that every student has his social studies book and copy book tomorrow. Many have forgotten it.
We have read silently in class pages 120 -129 and students should make sure to read all questions and be able to talk about the main points and general theme of the chapter in class tomorrow.
They should also come prepared and have understood the vocabulary of the chapter.
